New Potain MCR 625 Luffing Jib Tower Crane Built For Expanding Markets
Manitowoc recently launched the new Potain MCR 625 luffing jib tower crane for the unique needs of markets in Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. The MCR 625 has movable counterweights, a compact design, and works with one- or two-fall reeving to allow faster hoist speeds.
The new crane will be available across Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
“We are excited to introduce the Potain MCR 625, a crane that offers the perfect balance in power, precision, and compactness,” says Leong Kwong-Joon, regional product manager for Potain tower cranes. “By leveraging the proven design of the MR 618 and adding design elements for fast-emerging global markets, we are empowering contractors to tackle ambitious projects in urban environments with unprecedented efficiency and reliability.”
Nimble In Small Spaces
The MCR 625’s movable counterweights optimise load distribution across the structure, allowing for a compact design that retains high lifting capabilities and taller height under hook options. The crane can be erected on 2.45-metre (8-foot) mast sections, making it ideal for cramped jobsites.
When configured in the two-fall operation, the MCR 625 has a maximum capacity of 32 tonnes (35.2 U.S. tons) and a 17.5-t (19.3-U.S.-t) capacity when configured in with one-fall.
Potain MCR 625 Specs
The crane has a maximum jib length of 65 m (213 ft) and a maximum tip load is 6.4 t (7 U.S. t) at 65 m. It can be configured with multiple jib lengths starting at 30 or 40 m (98.4 or 131.2 ft) and then 5-m (16.4-ft) increments up to 65 m. The full jib requires only 11 truckloads, making the MCR 625 one of the easier cranes to transport. Three hoist options expand the MCR 625’s versatility; all have 603 m (1,978 ft) of wire rope.
