Austrian contractor and crane rental company Engl recently added to its rental fleet with a new Grove GMK4100L-2 all-terrain crane. The Schwoich, Tyrol,-based company chose the crane for its compact size, comfortable cab, and superior taxi load charts. The four-axle crane has a 60-metre (197-foot) main boom and can travel with as much as 6.8 tonnes (7.5 U.S. tons) of counterweight in the taxi configuration. The company now has six all-terrain cranes in its fleet, three of which are from Grove.

“The Grove GMK4100L-2 is the only 100-t-capacity crane with a 60 m main boom that can drive with its second hoist and heavy-duty jib on board while also carrying counterweight,” says Engl General Manager Wolfgang Engl. “The boom length you get on this crane compared to its overall size means you can complete jobs that you just wouldn’t be able to do with the same size crane from a competitor. It is especially good for accessing confined jobsites, which are becoming increasingly common.”

    About The Grove GMK4100L-2

The all-terrain crane has a 100-t (110-U.S.-t) capacity and a seven-section Megaform main boom for enhanced stability and strength. The vehicle is 2.55 m (8.4 ft) wide, which allows the crane to work on confined urban jobsites. All-wheel steering enables on- and off-road driving. The GMK4100L-2 is equipped with the latest-generation carrier cab, which is ergonomically designed for comfort and ease of use and meets ECE R29-3 crash test regulations. The EUROMOT 5 engine technology lowers fuel consumption and allows the use of 100% HVO fuel.

“When you sit inside the new carrier cab in the GMK4100L-2 you get such a feeling of space, and all the controls are clearly arranged and easy to reach,” says Engl. “Our drivers spend a lot of time in the carrier cab traveling from one job to another, and I know that with the GMK4100L-2 they will arrive relaxed and ready to work.”
