10 Liebherr Cranes Working Together On Arboretum Project Near Banks Of The Seine

Once finished sometime in mid-2023, the Arboretum will be a 125,000-square-metre (1,345,489-square-foot) office park located on the banks of the Seine in the Nanterre suburb of Paris, France. Ecological design is a major architectural element on the campus, with offices constructed mostly of solid wood. Other low-carbon technologies and sustainable designs are used to reduce the campus’ carbon footprint. Ten Liebherr tower cranes in the EC-B series are on-site and working together on the project. The complete list includes two 20 EC-B 10s, two 250 EC-B 10s, one 250 EC-B 12, two 285 EC-B 12s, two 340 EC-B 12s and one 370 EC-B 12.

Coordinating Lifts

“Liebherr cranes are ideal for carrying out this project because of their exceptional cost-effectiveness and safety standards,” says Antonio Silva de Almeida, the site manager in charge. The tower cranes are set at different hook heights, between 41 to 59 metres (135 to 194 feet) and jib lengths, from 47.5 to 60 m (156 to 197 ft). Meticulous planning and the top-slewing cranes’ ability to rotate above or below each other allows the entire group of cranes to safely operate in the same workspace. All the EC-B cranes are fitted with anti-collision systems, courtesy of French manufacturer AMCS technologies, to further improve safety.

Micromove Precision

The late-model Liebherr EC-B cranes, which are leased by customer GCC, include the latest Liebherr technology. For example, the EC-B cranes utilise Liebherr’s Micromove fine-positioning mode to gently, slowly move the heavy loads, such as timber and concrete elements, and protect the materials during placement. And when combined with the high-performance drives in Liebherr’s EC-B cranes and the Litronic crane control system, operators can precisely position the load over several minutes. The 10 Liebherr EC-B cranes will ultimately assist in moving 20,000 cubic metres (26,159 cubic yards) of wood and 55,000 cu m (71,937 cu ft) of concrete to construct the office buildings.
