Crane & Logistics Company Takes Delivery Of Liebherr LTC 1050-3.1 & LTM 1160-5.2 Mobile Cranes
Southern Thuringia-based Henneberger Schwerlast only uses Liebherr all-terrain telescopic cranes. The firm recently expanded its Liebherr mobile crane options with an LTC 1050-3.1 (the third crane from Liebherr’s compact LTC range) and an LTM 1160-5.2. By investing only in Liebherr, Henneberger Schwerlast gains valuable flexibility with personnel deployment.
“With Liebherr, we appreciate the uniform crane control, from small to large cranes,” says owner Mario Henneberger. “This allows us to make optimum use of our driving personnel in times of shortage of skilled workers and also to easily bridge downtimes due to vacation or illness. Liebherr's service is also exemplary, solving problems quickly and thus significantly reducing downtime."
Slim Design With Everything On Board
The 50-tonne (50-U.S.-ton) LTC 1050-3.1 can carry all of its equipment and ballast at an axle load of 12 t (13.2 U.S. t). The LTC 1050-3.1 is just 2.55 metres (8.4 feet) wide during transport, and with its all-wheel-steer capabilities, the compact crane can reach jobsites others can’t.
“The manoeuvrability and travel characteristics of the LTC are excellent,” says Henneberger. “In addition, Liebherr has further improved the crane in many details, for example, the assembly jib with roller set and hook traverse.”
Henneberger purchased the LTC 1050-3.1 with a 36-m (118-ft) Telematik boom, with telescopic parts that are bolted together for greater lifting capacities and a wider lift radius.

Liebherr’s LTM 1160-5.2 provides Henneberger Schwerlast with another option in its five-axle mobile crane fleet and complements the lifting capabilities of its largest crane, the LTM 1250-5.1. The LTM 1160-5.2 has a 13.1- to 62-m (43- to 203-ft) telescopic boom, as well as folding jibs and lattice jib extensions to increase length even further. The LTM 1160-5.2’s maximum radius is 78 m (256 ft), and the full 180-t (190-U.S.-t) load capacity is available at radii up to 2.5 m (8.2 ft).
Similar to the LTC 1050-3.1, the LTM 1160-5.2’s VarioBallast and variable support base were key features for Henneberger Schwerlast. "VarioBase is the most ingenious invention ever,” says Henneberger. “We need it every day. It allows us to use our cranes much more flexibly and do jobs that would otherwise not be possible."
