Soliman Acquires Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All-Terrain Crane, Bolsters Its Fleet’s Lifting Capacity

French crane contractor Soliman recently added some versatility to its crane fleet with an LTM 1230-5.1 mobile crane from Liebherr. The new crane’s high lifting capacity and long boom make it a good fit for projects such as wind turbine work and erection of tower cranes. Soliman says other factors in choosing the LTM 1230-5.1 were the reliability and high resale value of Liebherr cranes. Soliman was founded in 1984 and today has locations on the coast and in Picardie in addition to Lille to enable work throughout the Hauts-de-France region. The company runs a fleet of 26 cranes, over half of which were supplied by Liebherr.

About The LTM 1230-5.1

The 230-tonne (275-U.S.-ton) crane has a 75-metre (246-foot) telescopic boom that can be combined with a 43-m (141-ft) fixed jib for high radii capable of hoisting loads over buildings. The LTM 1230-5.1 has a maximum hoist height of 111 m (364 ft) and has a large range of hydraulically adjusted auxiliary boom systems available as an option. The five-axle mobile crane has a maximum radius of 86 m (282 ft) and the VarioBase asymmetrical support system and VarioBallast trapezoidal support allow for work in constricted spaces and boost the crane’s lifting capacities.

Liebherr’s ECOmode minimises the crane’s fuel consumption and lowers noise levels when operating the superstructure. The working speed is set by the operator and the Liccon 2 control system calculates the optimal engine speed. The ECOdrive function reduces the engine speed to provide a quieter ride and faster gear shifting for better traction off road as well as more efficient fuel consumption on the road.

“We chose Liebherr when we decided to develop our fleet as a result of the reliability of Liebherr cranes and the fact that they often deliver higher lifting capacities compared to others in the same crane class,” says Soliman Commercial Manager Enzo Gigante. “The crane fits perfectly in the heavy load cranes within our fleet.”
