Manitowoc Announces New Potain MCT 565 With Shorter Jib & Higher Lifting Capacity
Since it debuted three years ago, the Potain MCT 565 topless crane has been a popular choice for jobsites around the world. The crane started with three capacity options: 20, 25, and 32 tonnes (22, 27.6, and 35.3 U.S. tons), and now is joined by the MCT 565A, which can work with shorter jibs and counter-jibs and has higher lift capacities. The new crane will make its project debut in Singapore this month.
About The Potain MCT 565A
The new crane, a more compact version of the MCT 565 M32, has a minimum jib of 25 metres (82 feet), or 5 m shorter than the 30-m (98.4-ft) minimum of the previous versions. The crane’s counter-jib can also be shorter, needing only 15 m (49.2 ft), while still allowing work with up to 35 m (114.8 ft) of jib to move in tight locations. The compact design enables the cranes to work in closer proximity, which helps speed up the construction process. The crane retains many other features from the MCT 565 models. It has the same C mast sections with a maximum height under hook of 74.2 m (237.5 ft) and an assembly time of two days under normal site conditions. Potain offers either the 150 LVFC 80 FS or the 150 HPL 80 winch options.

By introducing the compact MCT 565A, we are now offering greater choice in this class. The new model is positioned alongside the existing three MCT 565 options, allowing customers to choose the right crane for their specific job.”
Comparing Capacity
The MCT 565 M32 can lift 19.7 t (21.7 U.S. t) at the end of its 30-m jib, the shortest option it has. The MCT 565A can lift 22.5 t (24.8 U.S. t) at the same distance and can lift 28.4 t (31.3 U.S. t) at 25 m. When the jib is extended to lengths of 45 m (147.6 ft), the MCT 565A has a 14.2-t (15.6-U.S.-t) capacity, putting it 1.1 t (1.2 U.S. t) over the capacity of the MCT 565 M32.
