Lelieur Levage Chooses Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 All-Terrain Crane For Sustainability & Other Benefits
When Lelieur Levage selects a new crane, they consider more than its technical prowess. For instance, when deciding on a crane to replace Liebherr’s LTM 1220-5.1 all-terrain crane, the lifting, transportation, and loading firm upgraded to the newer LTM 1230-5.1 in part due to Liebherr’s ECOdrive and ECOmode technologies.
“The Liebherr cranes that we invest in are always state-of-the-art and enable us to minimise our fuel consumption and reduce noise emissions,” says owner Eric Lelieur. “That means that they help to make work on sites as green as possible and ensure the well-being of the site workers and local residents.”
More On ECOdrive & ECOmode
With ECOdrive, Liebherr’s LTM 1230-5.1 five-axle mobile crane offers improved engine tuning and the modular ZF TraXon gearbox. The gearbox makes it possible to transfer torque from the Liebherr diesel engine when operating at faster speeds, such as driving on the road, to lower fuel consumption. It also offers quicker shifts between gears for greater off-road traction. The wide range of gears allows operators to drive the LTM 1230-5.1 using the optimal engine speed range for more fuel-efficient operation. With ECOmode, operators set the required working speed and the onboard LICCON 2 control system calculates the engine speed to match. Liebherr says that both systems reduce fuel consumption and lower engine noise.
“We choose Liebherr for mobile cranes because the brand enables us to demonstrate our commitment for limiting our CO2 footprint and therefore satisfy the energy policy challenges of the world of tomorrow,” Lelieur says.
High Capacity & Boom Length
The Liebherr LTM 1230-5.1 plays a valuable role in the 30-crane Lelieur Levage fleet, providing a five-axle option between the firm’s 130-tonne and 300-t cranes. The 230-t (275 U.S.-t) LTM 1230-5.1 is equipped with a 75-metre (246-foot) telescopic boom that can be paired with a 43-m (141-ft) fixed jib for a maximum hoist height of 111 m (364 ft). Lelieur plans to use the new crane for maintenance work on industrial jobsites, and Liebherr says the five-axle chassis, along with its high capacity and tall hook height, makes the LTM 1230-5.1 a good option for assembling tower cranes or performing maintenance on wind turbines.
