Liebherr’s New LR 1100.1 Crawler Crane Enhances Jobsite Versatility & Safety

Liebherr provides operators with a couple ways to configure its new LR 1100.1 lattice boom crawler crane for typical lifting applications. Options include a 62-metre (203.4-foot) main boom or a 44-m (144.3-ft) main boom combined with a fixed jib at up to 20 m (65.6 ft). The LR 1100.1 has a 100-tonne (110-U.S.-ton) lift capacity, providing the crawler crane with the brawn to fill multiple purposes around a jobsite. Liebherr also gave the LR 1100.1 a transport width of just 2.9 m (9.5 ft) without crawlers, and 3.5m (11.5 ft) with crawlers, as well as a self-assembly system that streamlines setup once the crane reaches its destination.

Remote Control Increases Onsite Flexibility

Liebherr equips the LR 1100.1 with radio remote control that provides access to the crane’s full range of functions from outside the cabin. This yields multiple benefits, says Liebherr, including giving the operator a better view of the jobsite and eliminating blind spots, which in turn increases the safety of everyone nearby. Remote control is also extremely handy in situations where a second person isn’t available to act as a rigger or spotter during lift operations. When working inside the cab, operators can elevate the LR 1100.1’s cabin by 2.8 m (9.2 ft) as needed to achieve a better view.

Safer On A Slope

The crawler crane’s Gradient Travel Aid feature calculates its centre of gravity, providing operators with that information as well as real-time information on the permissible gradient and actual gradient. The system alerts operators before an incline becomes unsafe, making it easier and safer to move the crane from place to place on the jobsite.

Lift Performance

The LR 1100.1 is powered by a 308-horsepower (230-kilowatt) engine, which Liebherr says is the most powerful in its class and has an Eco-Silent Mode that reduces diesel consumption and noise emissions without drastically impacting performance. Liebherr also equipped the crane with a fuel-saving Automatic Engine Stop Control feature to switch off the engine during down time.
